Ready to take your first step into the world of video creation? Our Kickstart Training is a fun, practical, and inspiring one-on-one workshop designed specifically for beginners. Whether you're working with a DSLR, mirrorless, handheld video camera or iPhone, we'll help you get confident behind the lens—no more guessing, just solid skills and real results.

Through a hands-on, creative approach, we’ll teach you how to navigate your camera, understand key technical settings, and start making videos that look great—because you planned it that way.

- How to confidently use your DSLR, mirrorless, video camera or iPhone.
- What frame rates and shutter angles mean—and how to set them right.
- ISO basics and how it relates to film and lighting.
- The foundations of strong visual composition.
- Camera movement: intro to tracking and panning.
- Lighting 101: understanding light, texture, and colour.
- How to use a tripod properly and creatively.
- How to turn your ideas into visual stories.
- A basic understanding of manual settings on a DSLR or mirrorless camera.
- A DSLR, mirrorless, handheld video camera or iPhone.
- Memory cards.
- Fully charged battery.
- Tripod.
- Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
- Duration: 10am – 3pm
- Days: Monday to Sunday (bookings essential)
- Location: We come to you — available in Auckland and Wellington
Cost:
$550 – 1 student
$650 – 2 students
$750 – 3 students
$850 – 4 students (maximum)
Additional mileage may apply for travel outside Auckland or Wellington CBD areas.
